Trip Recap // Cancun

in , by Lavender Elizabeth, June 10, 2018

Last weekend, I headed to Cancun for a fun girls' weekend away with two of my childhood best friends, Keiko and Shannon, and some of Keiko's high school friends. I love that I'm still so close with girls I've known for 18 years! We were there for only four days, so made the most of being in paradise. From countless hours on the beach to cooling off in the turquoise ocean; pina coladas throughout the day to dressing up for dinner; we had a blast. Our group stayed at the Riu Caribe, which is where we spent most of our time. When Shannon and I booked our rooms, the hotel was sold out, so we ended up staying at their sister resort next door, the Riu Palace Peninsula. Both resorts were all-inclusive, which in my option, is the way to go!

THURSDAY
We arrived in Cancun! After checking into our rooms (our view was incredible!), we enjoyed the pool and then got ready for dinner. Our first dinner was at their Japanese buffet.

FRIDAY
Our first full day in Cancun was spent on the beach and in the ocean. For dinner, we ate at their Mexican restaurant, which was so tasty! Sadly, I ended up getting pretty burnt that day - the Mexican sun is no joke! I was that badly burnt wearing SPF 50!

SATURDAY
This was the one day that we left the resort to do some exploring. We took an all day catamaran out to Isla Mujeres, with snorkeling on our way back to the resort. Unfortunately, being on the boat for most of the day resulted in me getting sunburnt over my sunburn. When we got back to the resort, I was not feeling well. I ended up shaking uncontrollably and falling asleep at 9:00. Suffice it to say, I didn't make it to dinner Saturday night.

SUNDAY
I spent the first half of our last day in my room. I was still feeling pretty sick from the burn, so decided to stay inside until the UV rating went down. Thankfully, at 2:00, I headed down to the beach. I ended up having the best time, soaking in the pool and hanging out with the girls. For dinner that night, to celebrate one of my oldest friend's birthdays, we went to their steakhouse. We took lots of sunset photos beforehand, though. It was too gorgeous of a night not to have a mini photoshoot.

Monday morning, we ate breakfast and then headed to the airport.

Our trip was such a nice break from reality. Being surrounded by such beauty and being able to share it with two of my best friends was perfect. I can't wait for our next adventure!
