Weekends Away in Austin

in , by Lavender Elizabeth, March 29, 2020
This time today, I was supposed to be sitting poolside in Las Vegas with friends, but obviously, the world had other plans. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, so I'm currently sitting at home reminiscing on past adventures. Over the past four months, I've taken two trips to visit my best friend in Austin. The first time, I went solo and the second, two girlfriends joined. Both trips included new parts of Austin to explore, plus some true favorites. If you're planning for the next time you can travel, my complete itineraries are below.

Weekend Away in November

FRIDAY

The Lost Lei: After Betty and I had dinner at La Travista (which was phenomenal Italian food in the Warehouse district), we went around the corner for a drink. The Lost Lei is so fun and they had delicious and creative drinks!

SATURDAY

Lady Bird Lake: Betty's boyfriend lives right on Lady Bird Lake. It's a great place for a morning walk with an incredible view of downtown.

William & Chris Vineyards: Betty is a member at William & Chris, so we went for an afternoon of wine tasting. The charcuterie board, wine, and grounds were wonderful.

Das Peach Haus: On the way home, we stopped into Das Peach Haus for peach cobbler, wine, and cookies out by the water. We also did a jam tasting - the raspberry jam I brought home is amazing.

Fresa's Chicken: One of my high school friends relocated to Austin, so we met for dinner at Fresa's Chicken. We ended the meal with churros -  yum!

SUNDAY

"I Love You So Much" Mural: We had to stop at Jo's Coffee's famous mural before walking along South Congress.

Mañana Coffee: Stopped in for a quick pick-me-up. I loved the tile and decor!

Kendra Scott Flagship Store: This was my first time to Kendra Scott and I loved every minute of it. Their flagship store is beautiful and has the nicest staff. I bought the Elisa necklace with an iridescent drusy gem and wear it all the time.

Home Slice Pizza: Seriously delicious pizza. It's just thin enough to be crispy, but you still get tasty crust.

Waterloo Greenway Creek Show: Each year, the Waterloo Greenway puts on a light show. I spent the evening with Chelsea (my high school friend) enjoying the exhibit.

Weekend Away in February

FRIDAY

My 28th birthday was that Friday! Betty spoiled me with a tasty breakfast, a nail appointment, and a great evening out in The Domain.

Crú Wine Bar: Happy hour was great. We each had a flight of wine to taste (I did rosé) and split their goat cheese beignet.

Copper Restaurant & Dessert Lounge: Another great happy hour! I highly recommend all the food we ordered: Grilled Cheese Fingers & Tomato Bisque, Smoked Pork Quesadilla, and Crispy Mimosa Chicken Tenders. Ending with cake balls is also recommended.

Wonder Bar: Our final stop of the night was the Wonder Bar. While there, we spun their wheel and I won the "Livin' my Best Life" drink. They weren't kidding! Such a fun bar with tons of activities and photo spots.

SATURDAY

Lady Bird Lake: Morning walk with my girls, complete with coffee and the same stunning view as November.

Eberly: My birthday brunch was spent at Eberly, complete with a tasty dessert. It was a beautiful restaurant with great food.

Mount Bonnell: A quick hike up to the top gives different views of the city. Plus, it made for a great backdrop for new Instagram photos. ;)

Torchy's Tacos: Oh my goodness - so tasty! We sat outside and enjoyed the weather, while snacking on Tipsy Chick tacos.

Kendra Scott Flagship Store: After visiting in November, I knew we had to go back. This time around, we sipped pomegranate mimosas and visited the color bar. I ended up purchasing the Edie Gold Cuff bracelet, Elle Drop earrings, Kristen Gold Drop earrings, and received my free Lonnie Hoop earrings shopping gift.

"I Love You So Much" Mural: Right before leaving South Congress, we stopped by the "I Love You So Much" mural for a quick photo.

"Greetings from Austin" Mural: Next up was the "Greetings from Austin" mural. I just love this iconic spot! It's so bright and features some of the most well-known parts of the city.

Container Bar & Sixth Street: Saturday night out! We started at the Container Bar, where we danced the night away. We then checked out a couple of bars on Sixth Street before heading home.

SUNDAY

Flower Child: After our late night out, we wanted some healthy food. Flower Child was the perfect spot! I had the Flying Avocado and finished every last bite.

Shopping in the Domain & Sprinkles: After brunch, we walked around the Domain, stopping into different shops. To finish our day before catching our flights home, we stopped into Sprinkles for a sweet treat. I had their banana cupcake - oh my goodness; definitely a new favorite.

Both trips to Austin were so fun! I can't wait to visit in the warmer weather to experience the water and fun hiking spots.
