This Friendly Inspiration is coming a little late this weekend (I graduated from college!), but trust me, when you see it, you won't be able to be anything but inspired by this nature-themed wedding. Enjoy! (To see her introduction, click here.)
Katie's Friendly Inspiration:
The Colour Scheme: The wedding colours will represent the surroundings of the property, with different shades inspired by nature, along with little accents of indigo and teal.
The Invitations: The invitations will be kept simple, with cream cardstock and a unique use of font.
The Venue: Dodasa Ranch
Ceremony Space: The ceremony location at this venue is beautiful. There is a cascading tree that makes for the perfect backdrop, along with a teal barn door entrance to the aisle.
Reception Space: This open barn is the perfect place to host the celebration after the nuptials. Its high ceilings and open concept combines the beauty of the outdoors with the rustic features of a barn.
The Bride:
The Dress: Katie's BHLDN dress is simple and sweet, with a flowing skirt and unique back details.
The Look: Katie will show off the neckline of her gown by having a low updo with loose curls and a simple pearl necklace. She loves wildflowers and sunflowers, so her bouquet will feature both, along with the indigo accent colour.
The Bridesmaids: The bridesmaids will hold a similar bouquet to the bride, but without the sunflowers. To backdrop these beautiful wildflower bouquets will be mismatched dresses in different shades of tans and nudes.
The Groomsmen: The groomsmen will wear tan pants, cream dress shirts, and brown tweed vests. To accent this look, they will wear checkered teal ties and wildflower boutonnieres.
The Ceremony: Lining the burlap aisle runner will be cream petals and sage wreaths on the chairs. Hanging from the trees will be different bottles in brown, cream, and indigo, filled with cream flowers.
The Cocktail Hour: To include Katie's love of craft beers, a beer bar will be featured during the cocktial hour.
The Reception Lighting: Leading the way to the entrance of the reception space will be converted wine bottle lanterns.
The Reception: To keep the nature-theme alive in the reception space, the chandeliers will be decorated in leafy greens, as will the table centrepieces. Accompanying the greenery on the tables will be a mixture of geometric glass terrariums, wooden candle and candle stick holders, and vases filled with wildflowers, where the table numbers will be attached with clothespins. The place settings will be kept simple with cream plates, an indigo menu, and a sprig of greenery.
The Cake: To reflect the surrounding nature, the cake will be decorated with cream leaves, flowerettes, and small twig details, and will sit atop a simple cream cake stand. Katie has a strong love of adventure, so her cake topper will read: "and so the adventure begins."
The Gift Table & Guestbook: The guests can leave their gifts and cards on a wooden table decorated in a similar style to the reception tables. They can then leave their well wishes for the couple on a heart shaped wooden piece that they can then hang in their shared home to commemorate the day.
The Games: Throughout the reception, guest can enjoy a myriad of outdoor games.
The Favours: Katie really wanted to have her favours reflect her love of beer, so layering pouring spoons were the decided gift. Guests will take home their very own spoon where they can create black and tan layered beers at home.
Next week, come back to see a modern mint and cream fairytale.
