Friendly Inspiration: Meaghan

by Lavender Elizabeth, May 02, 2015
Today's Friendly Inspiration is a light, yet warm, DIY wedding. If you missed the inspiration behind today's post, check out the introduction here!
Meaghan's Friendly Inspiration:
The Colour Palette: Meaghan wanted a colour palette of cream and gold, along with another light accent colour. The accent that I chose was a light powder blue inspired by hydrangeas.

The Invitations: To give guests the feel of a rustic wedding, along with showcase the doilies that will be used throughout the reception, I chose these invitations.

The Venue: Falkner Winery

The Ceremony Space: This venue has the perfect little ceremony space. It is surrounded by trees and gardens, and offers the perfect backdrop for the bride and groom.

The Reception Space: The inside reception space is so light and airy due to the large windows that surround the room.

The Property: This spacious winery offers so many lush details, like gardens, vineyards, and huge trees.

The Bride:

The Dress: This Justin Alexander lace dress that Meaghan chose just exudes elegance.

The Details: The bride's bouquet will be filled with a mix of blue hydrangeas and light coloured roses and accent flowers. To accompany the loose waves half-up hairstyle will be a vintage-inspired veil. The veil offers gold-threaded lace flowers at the hairline, giving it that extra something. To match the gold in the veil, Meaghan will wear simple gold diamond stud earrings.

The Bridesmaids: These Alvina Maids bridesmaids dresses are so light and springy. The blue hydrangea bouquets will look great against the cream dresses, as will the powder blue earrings.

The Groom and Groomsmen: To match the natural-vibe of this wedding, the groom and groomsmen will wear light brown vests and pants. To coordinate with the bridesmaids, they will also wear cream dress shirts and hydrangea boutonnieres. The groomsmen will wear gold and cream striped ties and the groom will wear a satin blue tie.

The Decorations:

The Ceremony: When the guests first enter the ceremony location, there will be wooden crates holding the programs, along with cute signage. The ceremony space offers a perfect spot to have an arch. Meaghan's arch will be decorated with cream hydrangeas and roses, along with doily hearts hanging off the arch for a special backdrop. The aisles will be lined with blue and cream hydrangea petals.

The Reception:

The Space: The reception space will be decorated with a tent of twinkle lights intermixed with doily lanterns.

The Tablescape: The tables will have tan tablecloths with large crocheted doilies in the middle of the tables. On top of the doilies will be a mixture of vases and bottles filled with hydrangeas and other cream flowers. Each table setting will have a gold charger, a lace-inspired cream plate, and a powder blue circular menu. The table numbers will be burlap-matted into cream frames.

The Cake & Dessert Table: The dessert table will have a cream tablecloth with a "Dessert" burlap banner. Above the table will be a doily banner to match the reception tables. The table will feature a cream cake with gold doily details and a large flower that will sit atop a blue cake stand. Surrounding the cake will be doily-cookies, gold and cream cake pops, and other yummy treats.

The Favours: Meaghan really liked the idea of giving each guest a small candle and a printout of their photo booth pictures (see below). There will be a mix of candles, featuring ones with gold details, cream lace, simple textured cream, and tealights sitting in gold mercury class. The candles will be arranged in produce-styled crate displays.

The Guestbook: One of Meaghan's requests was for a well-wishes guestbook, so I chose a wishing tree. Each guest will write their wishes for the couple on a heart and then attach it to the tree.

The Escort Cards & Photo Booth: A photo booth was a must for Meaghan's reception. The escort cards will help lead guests to the photo booth, along with give them a place to store it afterwards. They will consist of the guests' names, table numbers, and a cute saying, like "Make our day picture perfect by visiting the photo booth!" To keep with the DIY-inspiration, this photo booth will be handmade. The backdrop will be strings of cream, gold, and blue circles that will then have a large gold frame for guests to stand behind. To add some whimsy to the booth, there will also be lots of fun props to choose from!

The DIY Elements: There were many different DIY project throughout this wedding. The main elements were the doily-lanterns, twine-wrapped bottles, doily mason jars, table numbers, and photo booth props and backdrop.

Next week, a bright, intimate wedding.
