My ESTJ Personality Type

in , by Lavender Elizabeth, May 23, 2017
I don't know about you, but I love all things Personality Test. I find it so fascinating to learn about how I operate, as well as those around me. I think that's part of what drew me to starting a career in Human Resources. Understanding people and how they think is exciting and intriguing to me.

Because I find it so interesting, I thought it might be fun to share who I am as a person, based on my results from (a simpler Myers-Briggs test). I am an ESTJ-A or "The Executive."

E - Extraverted (82%)
S - Observant (90%)
T - Thinking (72%)
J - Judging (83%)
A - Assertive (72%)

As you can see, I was definitely in the majority percentages for each category. What does all this mean for me? As an executive, I love order. Everything has it's place and a right or wrong way of doing things. I live in a world of clear, verifiable facts, making me very aware of my surroundings. I also love to bring people together - something that has been very apparent in my friendships, as I love to plan get-togethers and be with people.

From the website: "Few personality types are as practical and strong-willed as Executives. Known for their reliability and administrative skills, Executives are good at creating and maintaining a secure and stable environment for themselves and their loved ones. Executives' dedication is invaluable in many areas, including their own personal growth."

I am very upfront about who I am, what I want, and what my goals are, so I tend to lead steady relationships. Because I'm so strongly Observant, communication is key for me. I'll always approach a situation head on and with a rational approach. I'll also work very hard in my relationships. "Executives take their relationships seriously and are willing to put a tremendous amount of effort into ensuring that they remain strong and committed and that effort pays off."

I value loyalty and shared values like no other.  Friendships that are dependable and share mutual interests are powerful connections that endure life's changes. I am someone who has friendships from when I was eight and from each location I've lived. I value my friendships above everything, so work to protect that, as well as choose to be very cautious about the friends I invest in. But when I do, you'll have me for life.

I think the two career paths that I've chosen - Human Resources and Event Design - both fit my personality well. The website said that I would end up in situations where I'd be able to exercise my affinity for organization, structure, and follow-through - all of which I've utilized. "From the genuine enjoyment Executives feel in organizing other people to their knack for clearly expressing their principles, values, and expectations, Executives are extremely effective managers." I'm so lucky to have found careers that not only fit my personality, but that I love!

So what about you? I'd love to hear what your results to this test were!

Love, your Executive
