Trip Recap // Nashville to Knoxville

in , by Lavender Elizabeth, September 28, 2018
This week, my work brought me to the state of Tennessee. I decided to fly to Nashville a day early to do some exploring on my own. It rained all day, but I had fun! The next two days were spent with two of my colleagues in Knoxville, recruiting students at their career fair. Below is a complete recap of my time spent in the Volunteer State.

SUNDAY
My first stop was to the iconic #WhatLiftsYou wings by Kelsey Montague. Thank goodness for strangers willing to take photos for me! Then off to a cute coffee shop I read about on the Everygirl. Bristol Parlor is an old warehouse that's been converted into a speciality coffee store. I sipped on a vanilla latte and ate a honey glazed donut, all while enjoying to cool ambiance. Again, thanks to the Everygirl, I landed at my next location: Acme Feed & Seed. It has a rooftop bar right on the river, which I knew would be perfect. The rain had officially picked up when I arrived, but that didn't stop me from taking in the views while sipping on their classic moonshine slushy. Despite the rain, I decided to walk to two different bars on Honky Tonk Highway - Luke Bryan's 32 Bridge and Crazy Town. Both places had some killer live music! Walking back to the car, I got soaked! But that's all part of the experience, right? On my way to a family friend's house for dinner, I stopped by Vanderbilt's Chi Omega house and then in the city of Franklin to a cute antiques shop where I found two pieces of Aynsley china! I spent the rest of the evening in Brentwood, catching up with old friends.

MONDAY
Monday started bright and early. I drove a little south to pick up my colleague and then we drove to Knoxville. Once we had lunch, we headed to the career fair. It was a lot of talking to students; definitely a success. Afterwards, we headed to dinner at Calhoun's On the River where we had BBQ and tasty drinks. It was still pretty early in the night, so we decided to go into downtown Knoxville for dessert. We ended up at the Phoenix Pharmacy & Fountain which was so cool. It's both a pharmacy and an ice cream shop. I had the Cookie Monster, which was cookies n' cream ice cream, hot fudge, and blue sprinkled whipped cream. To say it was gigantic would be an understatement. We were all crazy full by the time we left for the hotel.

TUESDAY
Our morning wasn't too exciting - we went to a coffee shop and all worked for a couple of hours. Before heading to the next career fair, we stopped into town for a bite to eat. They wanted an eclectic Asian lunch, so I went next-door to a French crepe cafe. My choice was definitely the winner. The French Market's entire inside was decorated with Parisian posters and giant chandeliers. On the way to the fair, I made a quick pitstop at University of Tennesee's Chi Omega house. When I initially toured there my senior year of high school, they didn't have any sorority houses, so it was cool to see the change (and see another chapter's house). Once our second career fair was over, we packed up and headed to the airport.

I had so much fun not only exploring Nashville, but also seeing what Knoxville had to offer. (It also helped that I was spent it with two amazing colleagues.) In two weeks, I'm off on my next business trip and I can only hope it's as fun as this one.
