The weekend before Independence Day was so busy and the Fourth didn't slow down. I experienced the holiday in the city for the first time, planned an epic girls' night out, and had a boat day on the lake.
JULY 4TH: POOL DAY
To celebrate the Fourth, a group of friends and I decided on a relaxing afternoon. It was a gorgeous day, which meant it was finally time to break out the bathing suits. We ended up playing a catch-and-throw game with the entire pool; it was so random, but so fun! We capped off the night doing my favorite thing - watching fireworks over the water.
JULY 5TH: TAO NIGHTCLUB
This was one of the most surreal nights I've had while living in the city. I truly felt like I was on some kind of reality show. I was contacted by a Tao Nightclub promoter who offered a group of friends and I a table for the night. We had a private section to dance our little hearts out. For the occasion, I purchased my first leather skirt. It was surprisingly comfortable and perfect for our night out. (Also check out the third photo for our secret to getting the best nighttime lighting. Ha!)
JULY 7TH: ON A BOAT
We'd been planning this day for months and were so excited when it finally arrived. The water ended up being really choppy and the temps were low, but we still had a blast. We went to an area on Chicago's lake called the Playpen and anchored there for most of the day. A few of us decided to brave the cold water and take a dip. To be honest, it was my favorite part of the day. It was quite chilly, but being able to float in the lake with that view was truly incredible.
MY FAVORITE TARGET BATHING SUITS
I wore two separate suits over the Fourth of July weekend, both from Target. Whenever I'm looking for a cute bathing suit, I almost always end up at there. This year, I'm loving one piece suits and bralette-style bikini tops. Below are six of my favorites, including the two I wore over the weekend.
I can't wait to experience even more of Chicago during the last months of summer.
